As part of the Commercial Games Development module in my third year of university, three sets of game jams occurred that lasted within intervals of two weeks. This diary contains my contributions towards my group for the first game jam.
The first game jam revolved around the idea of “demaking” a game. This meant an existing game concept had to be taken and produced in a setting reminiscent of a game that could be found on the Atari 2600.
Our chosen game to demake was Untitled Goose Game, chosen for a form of gameplay that could be easily imagined in an 8-bit setting. It was appropriately named “Demade Goose Game”.
My contributions for this game jam were admittedly minimal, as this particular game jam suffered from some key communication issues that hindered the project.
However, I did contribute some small additions, such as a simplistic title screen and victory screen, the latter of which was important to signify to the player when the game was beaten.
